Nevin
Grant, a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, is a freelance
broadcaster, journalist and musician, having served as Music and Program
Director for CKOC Hamilton for 38 years and 820 CHAM for four years. Nevin
served two terms as Chairman of the influential MAPLE LEAF SYSTEM of
Canada’s leading TOP 40 stations during the late '60s and early '70s and was
Chairman of the Radio Advisory Board at Mohawk College for 20+ years.
In 1986, Nevin won the Howard Caine Memorial Award for outstanding community
service from the Central Canadian Broadcasters Association and in 1989
received an Award of Merit from Mohawk College. He was inducted into
Hamilton’s Gallery of Distinction in 2003. Nevin co-authored “British
Invasion One & Two” and “California Dreaming” for Stage West in Mississauga.
He helped write and performed in “The Doo Wop Shop” for Theatre Ancaster.
Nevin was recently made a Director of the Canadian Communications
Foundation. He has played piano, including classical, since the age of four,
and has been a member of several rock groups and dance bands. He is an
authority on the music of the '50s, '60s and '70s. Nevin and Heather have
been married for 39 years and now reside in Courtice. They have three sons
and four grandchildren.
