TONY CIPRO
as
FRANKIE VALLI
|
Tony Cipro was born in
Italy and raised in the
Niagara Peninsula area of Southern Ontario. His parents Jerry & Josephine
owned and operated a vineyard and sold their product to local wineries. It
was discovered at a very early age that Tony was blessed with a wonderful
singing voice which, considering his Italian heritage, came as no surprise.
His uncle Romolo, already an established opera singer, was prepared to act
as his vocal coach. So, at age thirteen, while playing in his first
neighbourhood 'garage' rock band, Tony began a two year voice training
program that would prove to be invaluable in paving the way for his
outstanding singing career. Tony fondly remembers the early years with his
so called 'Bubble Gum' bands like Jordan and Little Rock which he admits
were started up for one reason only ........ "We were just trying to impress
our childhood and teenage girlfriends, not much to talk about now, but we
sure had fun".
Hard work, some good luck, and his marriage to his high
school sweetheart set the stage for the next several years performing as the
lead singer for many quality swing, dance and cover bands, most notably The
Power Connection, a dynamic thirteen piece group from Peterborough, Ontario
where Tony recently spent three years singing tributes to Chicago, Blood
Sweat & Tears, Burton Cummings and Tower of Power, to name but a few.
There was a time early in his career when Tony was diagnosed
with a rare life-threatening kidney disease. Through countless months of
treatment, combined with the care and devotion of his loving family, Tony's
condition is completely under control. He continues to give generously to
the Kidney Foundation with proceeds derived in part from selected benefit
shows. Tony lives in Oshawa with his wife Alyce and their two lovely daughters. |
