CHRISTIAN BELLSMITH
as
BUDDY HOLLY
|
Christian Bellsmith was born in Guelph, Ontario and grew up in the small town of New Hamburg where he began his musical career singing in his stepfather's choirs. Since graduating from Sheridan College's Theatre School in 1998, Christian has been performing in major roles at venues across Canada, primarily with the highly respected Drayton Entertainment Group, as well as The Diesel Playhouse and Stage West Dinner Theatre. Some of his selected credits include: Buddy in The Buddy Holly Story, Smudge in Forever Plaid, Stanley Jerome in 'Brighton Beach Memoirs and Ed in Evil Dead, The Musical. Christian has always been an avid Buddy Holly fan and is excited to headline Springtime Entertainment's 'Life and Times' production. This narrated musical journey, backed by a solid Crickets tribute band, features all of Buddy's greatest hits. Since donning the horn-rimmed glasses for the first time in the summer of 2003, he has had nothing but accolades from audiences and media alike. "Christian is a dead ringer for Buddy Holly. His persuasive portrayal goes much further than an uncanny physical resemblance. His youthful exuberance, hint of rebellion and bang-on vocals take theatre goers back to the time when his unapologetic love of rock 'n' roll made Holly a star." The Brampton Guardian "Not only is Christian an excellent singer and guitar player, but he radiates that boyish charm and incandescent love of performing that made Holly such a star in his all-too-brief career." Richard Ouzounian, The Toronto Star He now resides in Toronto with his wife and baby son. |
